IMPLANT-SUPPORTED DENTURES
Implant-supported dentures are known to be the closest possible alternative to natural teeth. If your gums and overall health are good, and you have sufficient bone in your jaw to support implant-supported dentures, we recommend contacting our office to book a consultation. We provide both permanent (fixed) and removable (retained) implant-supported denture options to suit your needs. Book your appointment with us at Tecumseh Denture Solutions.
PERMANENT (FIXED) IMPLANT-SUPPORTED DENTURES
These dentures feel more like natural teeth, and can help restore aesthetics, function and comfort. They are less bulky in the mouth without a palatal area which helps to eliminate gag reflex in some sensitive patients. A minimum of 4 implant-supported dentures are placed into the bottom jaw, and anywhere from 4 to 6 may be placed in the upper jaw. Abutments are then added to the ends of the implant-supported dentures. The fabricated denture is then attached and held in place by tiny screws that are inserted through the denture into the abutments. A titanium bar can also be added to provide strength and stability.

REMOVABLE (RETAINED) IMPLANT-SUPPORTED DENTURES
These implant-supported dentures are also known as ‘Snap-on Dentures’ because the denture connects to the implant-supported dentures through a snap mechanism. This helps eliminate movement of the denture thus providing better stability when compared to traditional dentures. Implant-supported dentures are placed in the jawbone and left to heal allowing the bone to fuse to the implant-supported dentures. After which, custom dentures are fabricated to snap into the implant-supported dentures. Because these implant-supported dentures are removable, they are easier to keep clean compared to fixed implant-supported dentures.
