DENTURE IMPLANTS

PERMANENT (FIXED) IMPLANT DENTURES
These dentures feel more like natural teeth, and can help restore aesthetics, function and comfort. They are less bulky in the mouth without a palatal area which helps to eliminate gag reflex in some sensitive patients. A minimum of 4 implants are placed into the bottom jaw, and anywhere from 4 to 6 may be placed in the upper jaw. Abutments are then added to the ends of the implants. The fabricated denture is then attached and held in place by tiny screws that are inserted through the denture into the abutments. A titanium bar can also be added to provide strength and stability.
REMOVABLE (RETAINED) IMPLANT DENTURES
These implants are also known as ‘Snap-on Dentures’ because the denture connects to the implants through a snap mechanism. This helps eliminate movement of the denture thus providing better stability when compared to traditional dentures. Implants are placed in the jawbone and left to heal allowing the bone to fuse to the implants after which custom dentures are fabricated to snap into the implants. Because these implants are removable, they are easier to keep clean compared to fixed implant dentures.
